Hele-On paratransit logoParatransit is public transportation services that are meant to provide a transportation option for those individuals who are unable to use the fixed-route bus due to a disability.

The Hawaiʻi County Mass Transit Agency offers Hele-On Kakoʻo paratransit service to complement its current fixed routes on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. Our current fixed route systems are located in Hilo, Puna and Kailua-Kona. It is an advanced reservation, origin-to-destination service for persons with disabilities who are unable to use the regular fixed Hele-On bus service within the Hilo, Puna and Kailua-Kona service areas. Eligibility is not based on the disability, but rather the functional inability of someone to use the fixed route service.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, contact the Mass Transit Agency at 808-961-8744, option 3.  Upon request, materials are available in alternate/accessible formats.
